Transfers of genera to other families - APGIII

Recent work on the phylogeny of plant families has led to some significant revisions of family boundaries, with a number of genera being moved from one family to another, and some families being assimilated within other families. Far more detail is available at the website of the Angiosperm Phylogeny Group

While we try to keep our plant list taxonomy as up-to-date as possible at generic, specific and subspecific level, we have not leapt fully into the new familial parameters.

In order to provide plant list users with as much information as possible, the following are changes that would apply to families and genera currently included in our Cypriot, Greek, Macaronesian, Dolomites, Spanish and Pyrenean plant lists. The list below is of families with altered parameters, and genera which have been assigned to them.

s.l. (sensu lato) refers to families that still exist after the changes, albeit in a more restricted sense.
s.str. (sensu stricto) refers to families in a more restricted sense.

It is important to note that individual changes have varying degrees of support and it is likely that some will eventually be adopted, while others will not. Those in double closed square brackets [[]], have been recently considered as separate families, but the current concensus is towards (re-)inclusion.

October 2009. Just when we thought it was safe to go back into the taxonomic waters, the changes of APG111 appeared in the Botanical Journal of the Linnaean Society.
The broad changes are included below.
