The Canary Island of La Palma offers a combination of interesting, varied walking in scenery that can be gently semi-rural or impressively rugged, from volcanic desert to jungly forest, without the over-touristification that affects Tenerife and Gran Canaria.

The book contains 16 routes based on walking from, or catching buses from, the popular east coast resort of Los Cancajos - though the routes are also practical from nearby Santa Cruz. They would also be possible from Los Llanos, though usually with an extra 30-60 minute bus journey at either end of the day.

The walk routes vary, from comfortable tours that are never more than 25 minutes away from a café, to energetic gorge crossings with considerable ascent and descent.

  • There are NINE LARGE-SCALE MAPS within the text, showing Los Cancajos-San Antonio-Zumacal, Barlovento, Fuencaliente, Mazo, Puntallana, San Andrés, San José, San Pedro, and the southern end of Santa Cruz.


    • In addition to the walk descriptions, there is lots of useful information for holidaying in La Palma - such as the Bonobus ticket system for the local buses - and about dragon trees.

    The 56-page book is A5 size, with a card cover. The book is supplied in a tough A5 plastic sleeve.
