Walks in Kokkari - Updates & Corrections summer 2008
My thanks to Alec and Edna Rowland for these corrections.
Walk 6 paragraph 5
Instead of "Join another track, and go left, then right where signed for Vourliotes" You should cross over the track and follow a further, shorter section of path, then cross a second track to join the final section of path.
Walk 8 paragraphs 1 and 3
The stream-caused landslips on the high track have been cleared and the streams culverted.
Walk 9 paragraph 3
"At a junction of paths, one to the right descends..." - Alec and Edna just kept to the path and arrived at the small chapel.
Walk 9 paragraph 5
Replace text "It then heads clearly uphill...behind terraced vineyards" with "Cross a dirt track and rejoin the waymarked path about 10m to the right. Follow the path uphill to a T-junction, with a disused building on the left. Go right, and above terraced vineyards."
Walk 9 paragraph 5
The sign to Manolates is no longer there, and the "recently renovated house" is an organic farm.
Walk 9 paragraph 6
The path is now much shorter and joins the concrete road before the cemetery.
Walk 13 paragraph 3
To the text "Go right, uphill, but look for a good path leading back left off the road" add "at the end of the crash barrier."
Walk 13 paragraph 3
Where you go right, from the church, onto a track, ignore a track to the left."
Walk 15 paragraph 2
Where "...the main track continues on the left, but your route, a much less used track, goes off right...", read "the main track goes left, but your route, continues onward..."
Walk 15 last paragraph
Where you "Go right, and loop down...", this is signed to Manolates. You can also follow the dirt track left into Stavrinides
