Autumn 2009 - seeds for sale

We have a small quantity of home-grown seeds for sale this autumn. All seeds offered are garden-grown - none are wild-collected - and we are not retailing any commercially-supplied seeds. These seeds are only available to buyers in the United Kingdom.

Eupatorium cannabinum - hemp agrimony

A pink-flowered perennial, a favourite of butterflies. Norfolk-grown, autumn 2009.

The leaves are vaguely cannabis-like in appearance, but the plant has no therapeutic or recreational properties.

It is a 1-1.5m high, hardy, upright, clump-forming perennial with terminal clusters of pinkish flowers in summer and early autumn. The flowers are not very showy, but beloved by butterflies and hoverflies.

It prefers an organic soil, in sun or partial shade. It will grow in both dry and damp places, though grows more lushly in the latter.

Sow the seeds in the autumn in pots, or it can be sown in situ if the area is not too dry. Plant out from pots in the following spring or summer.

This is a British native species, though the ancestors of the Norfolk-grown seeds offered here came from the Greek island of Lesvos and are more drought-resistant.

About 100 seeds in this packet.

£1.49, includes UK postage. This item is available for UK customers only.
