Pink centaury - Centaurium erythraea
Easy-to-grow British native species.
UK garden grown, collected autumn 2009.
A neat, 15-25cm tall, upright annual, with a small basal rosette of leaves and with numerous small, starry, shell-pink flowers from June to August.
Scatter the very fine seed in situ, in a light to average soil, in autumn (or spring in cold areas). You do not need to cover the seed, but just water them gently in.
It will self-sow after flowering, or you can trim back the forming seed-pods to encourage a second flowering in late summer.
The seed is very small, so there are c100+ seeds in this packet.
