We have a small quantity of home-grown seeds for sale this autumn. All seeds offered are garden-grown - none are wild-collected - and we are not retailing any commercially-supplied seeds. These seeds are only available to buyers in the United Kingdom.
Canterbury bell - Campanula medium
UK-grown, by Lance Chilton, summer 2009.
A free-flowering mixture of this attractive, upright biennial, includes violet-blue, white and pink shades.
Easy to grow. Sow in situ in autumn or spring, or sow in pots now to plant out later in the autumn for flowering the following spring.
This is not the Calycanthema form with cup-and-saucer flowers, but is much nearer to the original wild form with bell-shaped flowers. The parent plants are several generations on from seed collected in a garden in Greece.
Grows up to 80cm tall in sun or semi-shade (not under trees), but will flower over a longer period if in partial shade.
In ideal conditions, flowers from late spring/early summer into September. Some plants may grow through two winters and not flower until their third year.
Since they are small, I have not counted the seeds, but there is about one level teaspoon in this packet.
£1.49, includes UK postage. This item is available for UK customers only.
