This set of three booklets lists native and introduced plant species and subspecies recorded from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, the Channel Islands, Isle of Man, and Republic of Ireland. Family parameters follow APGIII (Angiosperm Phylogeny Group), but the "old" division into Dicots and Monocots is retained. Generic and specific taxonomy follows the Euro+Med PlantBase in part, Flora Hellenica, Flora Iberica and much recent work on the phylogeny of plants.
Part 1 of this plant list includes all native taxa, with the exception of three genera of apomictic microspecies, namely Hieracium, Taraxacum, and Rubus – with over a 1000 species and subspecies between them. In general, hybrids are excluded.
Introduced plants are covered in Part 2 (Ferns and allies, Conifers, Dicots Acanthaceae to Juglandaceae), and Part 3 (Dicots Lamiaceae to Zygophyllaceae and Monocots Acoraceae to Xanthorrhoeaceae).
A list of the apomictic microspecies will soon be available as a pdf file for free download, as will a separate list of hybrids.
Unlike some authors, I have regarded hybrids with one native and one introduced parent as being introduced rather than native (with the sole - rather complicated - exception of Spartina anglica).
Where restricted distributions within the British Isles are given, these refer to current native distribution, not to casual or introduced occurrences, which may sometimes outnumber the population in the native locations. Likewise extinct refers to the plant in the wild native state; some have been planted.

The plant checklist comes as three, text-only, 44-page A5 booklets with card covers (132 pages in total), listing species and subspecies recorded for the area. They are arranged alphabetically by and within families, with current taxonomy, scientific synonymy, English names, and endemic species marked as such. The booklets are supplied together, in a tough A5 plastic sleeve.
